Nilgiri College’s Int. Conf on “Mental Health”

The Department of Psychology, Nilgiri College of Arts and Science organized a two day international conference on 18th and 19 October 2023. The international conference titled " Mental Health:A Universal Human Right" was Organized with an aim of addressing the significance of mental health in this fast moving digital world. The Conference began on 18th October, with the inaugural address by our esteemed guests Rashid Ghazzali (Managing Director, Nilgiri College of Arts and Science),Roshel Rajan, (Creative Arts Therapist from UK ) and Noraini Abdul, (counselor from Singapore) Academic sessions were conducted by notable individuals like Dr. Gini K. Gopinath, Dr. Soni Thomas, Dr. Jishnu Janardanan, and Meghna T. Additionally, the conference highlighted the "Happiness Center" at Nilgiri College, which aimed to promote the stable mental health and garnered significant compliment from attendees. Distinguished figures, including Dr. G. Senthil Kumar, the Principal, Prof. Mohan Babu, the Academic Dean, Dr. Muhammad Sirajuddin, the Research Dean, Dr. Muhsin Lubayib (the top performer in the Psychology Department), Dr. Ali (I.Q.U.A.C. Director), and Ummer P.M. (the Campus Manager) of Nilgiri College of arts and science, attended the conference. The conference provided a platform for the discussion and exchange of views by students and scholars from South India. More than 20 leading institutions along with 70 research papers were carried out during this conference. The Best Paper Award was conferred upon Aishani Ghosh, Satakshi Sharma (Bangalore Christ College), and Prem Kumar (Pondicherry University). The International Conference was a positive step towards the unfolding of these changing dimensions, in the field of Psychology. The conference served as a unique opportunity to engage with research scholars in India to deliberate on continuing studies in these spheres.
