Physical Education

The Department of Physical Education at Nilgiri College of Arts and Science is promoting Physical Education and sports on par with regular academics. The college is following value of sports and physical activities as a means of developing personality, promoting social harmony and discipline. The activities provide generous opportunity to the students to excel their physical and sports abilities. It also facilitate for faculties to utilize their leisure time with physical activities that can reduce stress in day-to-day education system.

We believe in all-round development of students and hence, apart from our success stories in the field of education, the college encourage and support sports in enormous ways. With the unconditional support by the management and academic fraternity, the sports department went on to bring glory to the college in several disciplines of sports. The department has evolved into a team, which is committed to produce sports persons of high standards. Sports and Games activities in the college campus were very much active and alive during the year 2018-2019 and it is slowly but surely making its own brand name in the sports filed. The college provides basic YOGA practices that enable the students the basic techniques to maintain good health practices. It consists of introduction to the history and background of Yoga and Yoga practices with their related benefits, limitations and contraindications, methodology and yoga hygiene. We believes in adopting Yoga as a way of life and encourages the student to accept it as a culture of consciousness and science of awareness.
