Autonomous Status Granted to Nilgiri College

Affiliated with Bharti Yar University, the college has also been conferred with autonomous status. This designation enables the college to engage in more flexible and independent academic activities. Innovative and Immersive Academic Writing Training Program

Winter School on Academic Writing is an innovative and immersive academic writing training program conducted by Nilgiri College of Arts and Science and Groundedin Research and Insights on 29-31 January 2024 at Kaisan Institute of Skill Excellence, Mysore. The program invites applications from early career scholars, PG students and PhD scholars from humanities, social sciences, commerce and management. Leading writing experts from India and abroad train participants in fundamentals and advanced academic reading, writing, and publishing techniques with a focus on writing management software and AI tools. The winter school is designed in a camping format with arrangements for food and accommodation and a half-day local sightseeing trip in Mysore to accelerate networking and collaboration among participants. Selected workshop participants can join a community of researchers who support each other for high-quality publications. The Department of Psychology, Nilgiri College of Arts and Science organized a two day international conference on 18th and 19 October 2023. The international conference titled " Mental Health:A Universal Human Right" was Organized with an aim of addressing the significance of mental health in this fast moving digital world. The Conference began on 18th October, with the inaugural address by our esteemed guests Rashid Ghazzali (Managing Director, Nilgiri College of Arts and Science),Roshel Rajan, (Creative Arts Therapist from UK ) and Noraini Abdul, (counselor from Singapore) Academic sessions were conducted by notable individuals like Dr. Gini K. Gopinath, Dr. Soni Thomas, Dr. Jishnu Janardanan, and Meghna T. Additionally, the conference highlighted the "Happiness Center" at Nilgiri College, which aimed to promote the stable mental health and garnered significant compliment from attendees. Distinguished figures, including Dr. G. Senthil Kumar, the Principal, Prof. Mohan Babu, the Academic Dean, Dr. Muhammad Sirajuddin, the Research Dean, Dr. Muhsin Lubayib (the top performer in the Psychology Department), Dr. Ali (I.Q.U.A.C. Director), and Ummer P.M. (the Campus Manager) of Nilgiri College of arts and science, attended the conference. The conference provided a platform for the discussion and exchange of views by students and scholars from South India. More than 20 leading institutions along with 70 research papers were carried out during this conference. The Best Paper Award was conferred upon Aishani Ghosh, Satakshi Sharma (Bangalore Christ College), and Prem Kumar (Pondicherry University). The International Conference was a positive step towards the unfolding of these changing dimensions, in the field of Psychology. The conference served as a unique opportunity to engage with research scholars in India to deliberate on continuing studies in these spheres.

"Nilgiri College Annual Sports Meet 'Fast' Draws Big Turnout of Students"

The Department of Physical Education at Nilgiri College conducted its Annual Sports Meet, "Fast," on March 17, 2023. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Abu Salim, a popular cine actor, and Ms. B Indira, Secretary of Sports & Youth Welfare Officer of Nilgiri District, was also present as a guest of honor. The event kicked off with a grand opening ceremony, which included a torch relay, a march-past by the participants, and a cultural program showcasing the diverse talents of the students. The events included track and field events like running, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, and relay races, as well as team sports like basketball, football, and volleyball. Prayan 3.0 Residential Camp Offers Life-Changing Experiences and Memories

Prayan 3.0, a residential camp for girls, was organized by women cell of Nilgiri College. The camp aimed to nurture values such as empathy, resilience, and leadership in young girls. McLEOD’S Students Visit At Nilgiri College

Celebrated Republic Day In A Magnificent Way

The 74th Republic Day of India was celebrated in such a grand way by the NCC unit of Nilgiri College of Arts and Science. A total of 30 cadets including the SDs and SWs performed a neat Republic Day parade with the guidance of respected ANO; Lt. Dr. PP Abdul Razzak. The NCC Parades takes place at various universities and schools which are performed as a tribute to India and it’s unity in diversity and rich cultural heritage. The ceremony became even more vivid when a marathon was conducted in collaboration with the NCC unit. Various students of Nilgiri College participated in the marathon.

NATPU: When Memories Revamped

NATPU- 2023 was an alumni gathering of all batches from 2012-2023 held on 14th of January 2023, Saturday. The programme was organized by Nilgiri College Alumni Association with great support from management and teachers. The program was very successful and most of the alumni joined the event. The day started with the registration of all alumni gathered and welcomed them with a drink. They met their teachers and went to visit their classrooms. The official Inauguration of the program started at 12:00 PM at Sarangi Auditorium in the valuable presence of the Managing Director and Secretary of the college, Mr. Rashid Gazzali, Principal, Dr. Senthilkumar, Prof. Mohan Babu (Academic Dean) and faculties who started their journey with the college from 2012. Mr. Vishnu PV (President, Nilgiri College Alumni Association), Mrs. Mubeena (Secretary, Nilgiri College Alumni Association) Mr. Liyas (Treasurer, Nilgiri College Alumni Association) also joined the official inauguration of NATPU 2023.

Pongal Festival: Outburst of Celebrations

Pongal is a harvest festival celebrated by the Tamils. Nilgiri College of Arts and Science conducted various functions and events as part of the Pongal festival on 13th of January 2023. Pongal dish was made and numerous games and competitions like break the pot, rangoli making, sugarcane eating, coconut grating etc were held. It was a fun filled day and all the students as well as teachers enjoyed and celebrated the day well.

Pongal is the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu celebrated on the first day of the Tamil month. The Dance Club under the Skill Bank of Nilgiri College conducted a dance performance named ‘Nattiya Pongal’ on 9th of January 2023 as part of the Pongal festival. Nattiya pongal is the folk dance of Tamil Nadu performed as part of pongal. The performance made all students understand the culture and enjoyments of the Tamil land.

Nilgiri College Robot as the star of International Flower show at Ambalavayal

Nilgiri College’s Robot has made history by becoming the star of the International Flower Show at Ambalavayal. The robot, designed and created by a team of students from Nilgiri College, is the first robot to be featured in the international flower show. It was programmed to move around the flower show and interact with the visitors. Where it could respond to questions and provide information to visitors. The college students who designed the robot were thrilled with their success. They said that their robot was able to bring a unique experience to the flower show and that it was a great way to promote robotics and engineering.

Two Day FDP on 21st Century Concept Coaching Teaching and Learning Skills

A two day FDP on 21st century concept coaching teaching and learning skills was conducted on 16.12.2022 and 17.12.2022 to enhance the teaching skills of the teaching faculties of Nilgiri College of Arts and Science by the IQAC. Dr. Manoj AS, Head- planning, competency development and innovations, ICT Academy Kerala was the renowned resource person of the session. The expected outcomes of the FDP were predefined and pre-formulated. The FDP focused on key areas like enhancing the abilities to use different teaching methodologies for active learning, enabling the faculty members to become inspiring teachers and to enable the faculties to be updated regarding the technological growth in the field of learning and to highlight the role of teacher in the society. The FDP was conducted in the Nalanda hall. The same was inaugurated by the Secretary and Managing director, Mr. Rshid Gazzali. Ms. Leema Thomas, Head Department of English delivered the welcome speech and Ms. Soumya PB, Assistant Professor of English, introduced the resource person and about 40 faculties gave their active participation in the sessions followed. The day two of the FDP started with reflections, activities and various areas of teaching were analysed throughout the day. The facilities actively participated in the skits and towards the end a short meditation session embellished the overall experience of the FDP. The feedback was collected and majority of the participants reflected a positive feedback on the same. The session was concluded with a valedictory session and Prof. Mohan Babu, Academic Dean delivered the valedictory address and the resource person. Dr. Manoj AS, gave his concluding remarks. The guests were honored with mementos as token of love and appreciation Mr. Renjith. KV, Principal In charge and Head, Department of Computer science proposed the vote of thanks.

Nilgiri College to Host National Level Football Program with AIFF

The Nilgiri College has been selected among various institutions to get trained for licenced football coaches by AIFF. The Nilgiri College Sports Academy proudly welcomes the participants of AIFF D certificate Course to the green lawns of Nilgiri College. The college is hosting the All India Football Federation D certificate course for football coaches in the campus from 5th to 10th December 2022. The event is jointly organised by All India Football Federation and Nilgiri District Football Association. This would pave an opportunity for the players in Nilgiri locality to reach out to the best coaches where they'll be mentored to bring out their innate skills and talents in football. This might steer the way for the Nilgiri College ground to be the venue for the Tamil Nadu Santosh Trophy matches. This is a preparatory course conducted by the All India Football Federation. Introductory courses are educational means, used as a ‘recruitment’ tool to select promising future Coaches for the AFC C Diploma. Where they are enrolled via registration to apply for a D license course.

Green Positive Mission; Call for a Great Crop Festival

Nilgiri college to seeding its Green Positive Mission, which was being launched during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past three years, college has been steadily yielding a great amount of harvest every year. This mission has been launched with the objective to cultivate paddy and not just about planting, which is also linked to support and foster unity of our faculties and students. With the great hold up of team spirit, we have successfully reaped 7600 kilo rice in 2020, 8000 kilo rice in 2021, and this year we target 10000 kilo rice to be yielded. The project was being initially launched during the period of COVID-19 pandemic. The students, staff, faculties and neighbours have actively supported the same. All barren places across the campus were fruitfully used for various seasonal crops, vegetable farming and banana plantation . The yield from crops is being used as rice at the college canteen and delivered as gift packs to the community too. While getting back into offline classes we were getting into the field to reap a great harvest.

International soccer cup championship fixtures at Nilgiri college

Lakshadweep won the final match between Aifa Palakkad and Lakshadweep in the under-17 division of the International Soccer Cup organized by the physical education department of Nilgiri College and the Sports Academy in association with CFFA, Dubai. At the senior level, Kovalam FC won the match between Kerala Police by 2 goals. Rashid Gazzali, managing director of the college, has said that the success of the tournament would pave the way for better international competitions. The trophies were bestowed to the winners in the presence of Indian football legends IM Vijayan, Asif Zaheer, Sabit, former ISL player Sushant Mathew.

Unlike regular exams, which are usually a mix of descriptive and brief questions, the exam were conducted in the MCQ format where students had to answer 100 questions in 90 minutes.

Career Development Foundation Trust and Nilgiri College of Arts and Science have teamed up to launch Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam talent search scholarship exam with the aim of helping the gifted, including socially and economically backward students, to pursue higher education for the students who had completed plus two this year. Thousands of candidates from various districts of Malabar, Wayanad and Nilgiri have attended the scholarship exam. Results will be published by 25th of June. The winners will get a scholarship worth around Rs 30 lakh. This is the fourth time that the college is organizing scholarship exams for upcoming undergraduate students.

இந்தியாவின் உயர்கல்வித் துறையில் ஓர் புதுமையான முன்மாதிரியாக ஹேப்பினெஸ் சென்டர் (மகிழ்ச்சி மையம்) என்கிற ஆலோசனையை கடந்த 2018 முதல் வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்தி வருகின்ற ஸ்தாபனம்தான் நீலகிரி கல்லூரி ஆகும். ஹேப்பினெஸ் பிரச்சாரங்கள், ஹேப்பினெஸ் மதிய உணவு, ஹேப்பினெஸ் தினம், ஹேப்பினெஸ் தோட்டம், ஹேப்பினெஸ் ரோபோ, ஹேப்பினெஸ் குறியீடுகள் மற்றும் பல்வேறு செயல்பாடுகள் பயனளிக்கின்ற விதமாக இதுவரை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. இவ்வாண்டு ஏராளமான புதுமைகளுடன் நீண்ட ஒரு வார காலத்திற்கு நடைபெறும் விதமாக மகிழ்ச்சி திருவிழா நடத்திட ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. சர்வதேச மகிழ்ச்சி தினமான மார்ச் 20 அன்று தெருவோரங்களில் வசிக்கின்ற 1000 பேருக்கு உணவு வழங்கும் நிகழ்ச்சியுடன் ஆரம்பமாகும் இத்திருவிழா மார்ச் 26 அன்று நிறைவடையும். மேலும் 10000 பேருக்கு ஹேப்பினெஸ் மதிய உணவு வழங்கும் நிகழ்ச்சிக்கான ஆரம்ப கட்ட பணிகள் மாணவர்களால் ஏற்கனவே துவங்கப்பட்டுவிட்டது. பல்கலைக்கழக ரேங்க் பட்டியலுக்கு தேர்வானவர்களையும், இன்ஃபோசிஸ் நிறுவன பயிற்சி நிறைவு செய்துள்ள நீலகிரி கல்லூரியின் மாணவர்களையும் ஆதரிக்கின்ற விதமாக நீலகிரி குடும்ப சங்கமம், தேசிய அளவிலான கல்லூரி மாணவர்கள் திறன் வெளிப்படுத்துகின்ற தரங்க சீஸன் - 2, உள்நாட்டிலும், வெளிநாட்டிலும் உள்ள பல்வேறு நிறுவனங்கள் பங்கேற்கின்ற மெகா வேலைவாய்ப்பு முகாம் ஆகியவையும் திருவிழாவினையொட்டி நடைபெறுகிறது. மார்ச் 26 அன்று ஆதரவற்றோர் இல்லங்களில் வாழ்ந்து வரும் ஏறக்குறைய 500 பேர் கலந்துகொள்ளும் அன்பு சங்கமம் (ஸ்னேகஸ்வரம்-2K22) சர்வதேச ஹேப்பினெஸ் ஃபோரம் (WHF) என்ற நிறுவனத்தின் ஒத்துழைப்புடன் கல்லூரி வளாகத்தில் நடத்தப்படுகிறது. தங்களின் ஒத்துழைப்பையும், நல்லாதரவினையும் அன்புடன் வேண்டுகிறோம்.

Happy to share that the Career and placement cell in association with the ICT Academy of Kerala has successfully completed 70 hours certificate program. 18 students from various departments have been certified.
