Student Support Cell

The Nilgiri College of Arts and Science is a college that constantly striving to maintain international standards of excellence in academic output, equally in the holistic emotional, mental, and physical well-being of its students. Over the many years of its existence, the college has provided all its students a dedicated academic as well as career guidance, and encouraged faculty mentorship of individual students.

To advance assistance and supports to the students in need, and to give easy access to adequate support for social, financial, mental and physical disabilities and challenges, the college has established Students Support Cell (SSC).

The Student Support Cells in Nilgiri College of Arts and Science have been constituted keeping in mind the welfare and to extend continuous care for students.  The cell guides the students who need help to solve their personal and career problems and provides all sorts of help such as financial, counseling etc. under the direct supervision of management.

The Student Support Cell includes Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC), Minority Cell (MC), OBC Cell, SC & ST Cell.

Equal Opportunity Cell

Equal Opportunity Cell is a part of SSC that creates socially congenial atmosphere for academic interaction and for the growth of healthy interpersonal relationships among the students from various social backgrounds.

This cell is constituted with a view to create equal opportunities in education and employment. Equal opportunity cell is established to promote equal opportunities for marginalized social groups, minorities, physically challenged students and women at the college. The equal opportunity cell ensure all the students are treated equal.

The equal opportunity cell primarily orients its activities around training and development programs for the students such as supplementary academic support in the form of remedial coaching. Furthermore the cell conducts awareness programmes on a wide array of subjects.

OBC & Minority Cell

Minority Cell has been set up with the purpose of empowering the minority communities in the college. College has been very much keen to provide services to the educational and cultural needs of the minority community along with other caste, creed and Nationality. The Minority Cell basically helps minority students including Christian, Muslim etc. for their academic development.

The minority cell ensure an environment where all such students feel safe and secure irrespective of their social or financial backgrounds. It dedicated to give assistance to the minority students through various activities such as personality development, counselling, remedial coaching, communication skill, and tutorial classes etc.

The SC & ST Cell

The Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) have been identified as the two most backward groups of Indian Society. It include all the castes, races or tribes, which have been socially, economically and educationally backward.

The cell has been established to support and to bring students from such communities in the mainstream. The SC & ST cell of the college was established with the purpose of empowering the SC & ST communities in the region.

The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support, such as scholarships, to students from these communities from government agencies and other sources. They are also encouraged to enroll for career orientation programs, which would empower and equip them with the necessary skills to choose a career option.
